Punat Bay is on the south-west coast of Krk island, accessible from the Adriatic via the Krk channel (between Krk and the mainland) or from the south through the open Kvarner Gulf. The bay entrance is well-marked and 800 m wide. The marina is at the head of the bay, on the south shore.

The bay is one of the most sheltered natural harbours on the Adriatic — surrounded by hills on three sides, with a narrow entrance that prevents swell. The marina basin is calm in any weather. This is one of the reasons ACI Punat is the most popular wintering location for Italian, German, and Austrian yachts in Croatia.

Approach at 5 knots inside the bay; reduce to 3 knots within 200 m of the marina. Berth assignment via VHF channel 17. The marina is large enough that walk-in is usually possible even in peak season, but reservations are recommended for July-August.

Krk Island & Distance to Krk Town

Punat is a small village (1,800 residents) on the south-west coast of Krk. Krk Town — the larger and more touristy town with the Frankopan Castle and the cathedral — is 6 km north on the same island, 10 minutes by car or local bus. Krk Town has more restaurants and the historic Old Town atmosphere; Punat has the marina and a quieter village setting.

For provisioning, Punat village has a Konzum 5 min walk from the marina. Krk Town has larger Konzum and Plodine for full provisioning.

Košljun Monastery — The Iconic Excursion

Just across Punat Bay (1 km, 10-min taxi-boat from the marina) sits the small wooded islet of Košljun, home to a Franciscan monastery founded in 1447 on the site of a Roman villa.
